The assurance and accounting services we provide are the most visible part of our services as they provide detailed insight into the operations of your business. The most important part of our services is the ability of our firm to help clients maximize profits and ensure the long-term success of their business through our strategic and business consulting services.
Implicit in our approach is the use of team members who are experienced. Our clients are both large and small. You can be confident that we have the skills and experience to meet your changing service needs over the years. A key to successful planning is the amount of time we spend in preparing and training our clients.
P&M's operating philosophy is one of continuous contact with its client that fosters open communication, early identification and timely resolution of potential business, accounting and tax issues. We believe, given adequate internal control and reporting systems, that the audit work can be performed throughout the year. This approach makes the audit less onerous at year-end while allowing P&M to provide cost efficient service.
Employee Benefit Plan Audits
Generally, under the Employment Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) a company is required to have an audit of its retirement plan(s) if it has 100 or more participants (former or current employees) in your pension plan(s).
In addition to the audit, companies are required to prepare and file the IRS Form 5500. The Form 5500 is due by the end of the seventh month following the plan yearend. Recently, the IRS has been focusing on retirement plans and has enacted strict enforcement and penalties making it important for companies to use specialists for the audit of their plan(s). ERISA audits require effective planning and supervision as well as a thorough understanding of the applicable laws and regulations.
Our expertise and years of experience with pension plan audits can help you and your company.
